As Emma's cousin, a day doesn't go by without me thinking of her. She was the person I looked up to. She was always so kind, never trying to hurt me or my sister's feelings at any time. She taught me a lot. I feel like I didn't cherish the time I had with her, but she made so many memories. I miss her a lot. Please keep praying for us.

Today was the last day of school and Emma was watching from Heaven above, happy to see her friends move on to summer, and celebrating life. Sherry and Steven, your loss is immeasurable and I pray every day for your entire family. With the Care Calendar we are able to keep up with your progress – have to admit I get a little choked up each time I read the updates. Sometimes I’m sure it is from my memories of Emma at the Disney Store and other times it is just reading the love that Steven has for you. No question, You and Steven are most fortunate to have each other. Hang on to each other and you will get through this sad time. Eiley is a lucky girl to have such loving parents. As she grows, she will have all these documented thoughts to help her remember her Big Sister and know that it was the love her Parents shared that kept the Family strong.

We haven't met but I am very good friends with my co-worker Lisa Matthews. I was absolutely shocked to hear the news of your tragic loss and have been praying for you and your family as well as all those who are grieving with you. I have truly enjoyed hearing Lisa tell me fun stories of Melissa and Emma over the years and ache deeply for your loss. I am a mother of a 2.5 year old boy and a 6 year old girl and have shed many tears for your family. I pray that Sherry is able to make a full recovery both physically and emotionally. I take some comfort in knowing that Eiley has received a very special blessing - the gift of time to be raised by her mommy. I am very inspired and in awe to see the amazing network of families who have come together for you. Dear Key Family, I am so very sorry for the death of Emma. She was a good friend of mine. I can remember her playing with me at recess. We got to school after we heard about it, and everybody in our class was crying. The really good friends of Emma got together and talked about it and we said we all missed her. So it is hard for us to handle it too. But she is still with us in our hearts. My whole family is praying for Ms. Sherry and Mr. Steven and we hope Eiley is okay. We've never met, but we were one of the first cars to drive upon this tragic accident after the paramedics arrived. We knew just by sight that it was very bad. That night on the news we heard that your little Emma was lost in the accident and that Sherry had serious injuries. I just wanted you to know that people who don't even know you are praying for your entire family for God to give you the peace and strength needed to sustain you through this time. While we don't know one another, I happened into the traffic jam last weekend and knew something tragic took place. A brief excerpt online late last Saturday night revealed a glimpse into your loss. I prayed and cried out to God Sunday morning in church as my heart just absolutely broke for you. I continue to pray for your family, for there to be a peace and understanding surpass all reasoning and explanation; a peace only brought forth by our Heavenly Father's unending love, mercy and grace. No words will comfort you right now, just hold on and hold on tight, you will get through this. The pain will ease. The sudden trauma of this unnatural order of events, your bereavement, added to Sherry's serious injuries, have reminded me to be in consistent prayer, asking the Comforter to heal you, to sustain you, to help you walk one step at a time, and for you to be able to give glory unto Him as surely you are doing.
~Yesterday would have been the birthday of our gift from God, Aaron, whose life was similarly cut short in 1991; years passing do not remove the absence; rather, the passing years punctuate how much closer to our own home-going we all are. What a day of rejoicing it will be! (It blesses me to think of the priviledge on earth I had to introduce my child to a saving knowledge of Christ, and that when I go to heaven maybe my child will be one to point out to me where the throne is. May those few words in some way be used to comfort you.)
You have all remained in our prayers for many years now, so please know that our petitions heavenward in your behalf continue in the days and weeks ahead, and years to come.
