Virginia Manriquez Obituary

Manriquez
Virginia Z. Manriquez, was born on January 12, 1948, to her proud parents Antonio Lopez and Carmen Huerta Zermeno of San Antonio, and passed away in the early morning hours of February 27, 2011, in Houston, Texas.
She was a beloved and cherished daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and sister-in-law; She was also a devoted friend, colleague, and a loving mother to her children, Lupita and Philip. After graduating from Ursuline Academy in San Antonio, Virginia dedicated herself to helping her parent's operate the family "Molino". On the San Antonio social scene, she founded Las Amapola's Social Club, and discovered her greatest love; dancing. Entering the Houston workforce in 1991, she made it her passion to work with the Spring Independent School District in numerous capacities; the "Purple Lady" formed friendships and touched countless lives in over 21-years of service.
She was possibly generous to a fault, and profoundly honest in her commitments. Facing many of life's obstacles head-on, she led as fulfilled a life as possible, giving a new meaning to the word "courage". Gina was surely taken too soon, but she is at peace. Preceded in death by her loving parents,
She is survived by her loving daughter Lupita; son and daughter-in-law, Philip and Marilyn Manriquez; brother and sister-in-law, Anthony and Yolanda Zermeno; sister-in-friendship, Yolanda Jones; grandchildren, Matthew and Clarisa Manriquez; countless cousins, nephews, loving friends and colleagues.
The family will receive friends at 5:00 p.m., Friday, March 4, 2011 at Funeraria Del Angel Roy Akers with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m.
A funeral procession will depart the funeral home at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, March 5, 2011 to celebrate a 10:00 a.m. Mass at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Interment will follow in San Fernando Cemetery II.
The family would like to thank the physicians and nurses that made her rugged path tolerable.
In lieu of remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that donations to defray the cost of interment be made to the Virginia Z. Manriquez Memorial Fund, Frost National Bank. Please visit www.funerariadelangelroyakers.com for online tributes.

God's Garden

God looked around his garden and he found an empty place,
He then looked down upon this earth and saw your tired face.
He put his arms around you and lifted you to rest.
God's Garden must be beautiful, He always takes the best.
He knew that you were suffering, He knew that you were in pain.
He knew that you would never get well on earth again.
He saw that the road was getting rough and the hills were hard to climb,
So he closed your weary eyelids and whispered
"PEACE BE THINE".
It broke our hearts to lose you, but you didn't go alone,
For parts of us went with you the day God called you home.

Our Prayers are with your family. We Pray that God will give you Strength and Peace during this difficult time. May your hearts live on Your Mom's great Memories until the day we meet again. We Love You!!

The Broken Chain
We little knew that morning that
God was going to call your name.
In life we loved you dearly.
In death we do the same.

It broke our hearts to lose you.
You did not go alone,
for part of us went with you
the day God called you home.

You left us peaceful memories.
Your love is still our guide.
And though we cannot see you,
you are always at our side.

Our family chain is broken
and nothing seems the same,
but as God calls us one by one,
the Chain will link again.

Lupita and Phillip, I will always remember your mother for the sweet, kind woman she was. Etched in my memory are the times she visited me in the hospital to give me words of encouragement as I struggle with cancer. I love the picture you selected of her because it glows with her personality. May God bless you with His comfort and peace during the days ahead. Love to both of you, Carolyn Gumpert, Wells Middle School
