Andrew (Drew) Joseph Dennard passed away on July 12, 2013, at the age of 54 after a long fight with cancer. Survivors include his wife Ann Cavitt Fisher, stepdaughter Catherine Gassiot, mother Mary Marjorie Dennard, and siblings Edwin Dennard, John (Dave) Dennard, Eugene (Gene) Dennard, Martha Boyer and Mary(Mollie) Donovan. Drew was born in Houston on March 23, 1959, and attended elementary and junior high school here before relocating with his family to San Diego and finally to Atlanta, where he graduated from Ridgeview High School. He attended Columbus State University in Georgia and earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Texas at Arlington. He earned a CPA and worked with the accounting firm of KPMG Peat Marwick, and at Rosewood Property Company before returning to his hometown in 1994 to join Monterey's Acquisition Corp (now Mexican Restaurants Inc.) as a financial manager. He was quickly promoted to Controller in 1996 before becoming CFO in 2002. Drew was instrumental in the growth of MRI; while his primary responsibility was to maintain the company's financial health, his knowledge of operations and marketing made him a valuable strategic partner in formulating the company's culture and vision. Drew loved MRI and his colleagues loved him. He also had numerous artistic interests; Drew studied acting and participated in local theater including roles with The Back Porch Players. He was deeply loved, and his leadership, personality and sense of humor will be dearly missed.
