Abraham Abdalla, Jr. passed away peacefully on April 22, 2014 at home with his family at his side. His was born to Abraham Abdalla, Sr. and Nozera Hage Abdalla on April 3, 1928 in De Quincey, Louisiana. Five years ago, he wrote the following message.|
Abraham completed his public school life at Lamar Elementary School, Marshall Junior High School, and Jeff Davis High School in Houston, Texas. He was a member of the National Honor Society and on the Jeff Davis football team.
He joined the Marine Corp after graduating high school early and was assigned to the 1st. Marine Division, 7th Marines, serving time in Northern China while General Chang Ki-Sheck was still in control of the country.
After leaving the Marine Corp in 1948, Abe enrolled at the University of Houston under the G.I. Bill. He graduated in 1952 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
He spent most of his engineering career working for Texas Instruments Inc. both in design and later in supervision in the areas of seismic equipment design, large electronics, and automation systems equipment. He worked on special projects, some of which are housed at the Smithsonian Institution.
He was a charter member of the Texas Instruments Retiree's Club, and was a member of the American Legion, St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Texas Professional Engineers, and a life member of the NRA. Abraham spent a lifetime involved in outdoor activities: hunting, fishing, and mountain hiking. He always felt he was in God's presence when on the mountain tops. He loved Colorado and envisioned himself a mountain man who was born 100 years too late. Abe built by hand with a fellow engineer a vacation cabin in the Colorado mountains which provided years of enjoyment for his family.
Abraham leaves his wife of 59 years, Connie Murphey Abdalla, a true and loveable companion in all his undertakings, who he married at the Veteran's Administration Hospital Chapel. He also leaves his daughter, Amy Abdalla, sons David Abdalla, Gary Abdalla, and Gary's wife Ellison and grandaughters Erin and Jennifer Abdalla, who have kept their grandparents young at heart and wondering what their grandchildren's future will bring.
He was predeceased by his parents, Abraham Abdalla, Sr and Nozera Hage Macey, brothers Jacob Abdalla, Sam Joseph, Edmond Joseph (Nancy), George Macey, and sister Beatrice Craig, and members of the Abdalla family in De Quincey, Louisiana. He is survived by his brother Louis Macey (Mary Ann) and his sister Mary Ann Osborn and numerous nephews, nieces, and many good friends who he hopes to see again one day as well as those who went before him! God bless you all and may God bless and keep this country safe!
