Alan Murphy Obituary
Alan Gregory Murphy, Jr., CPA (Greg) 72, peacefully passed from the arms of his beloved wife into the open arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and the angels and saints awaiting his arrival on Friday, February 1, 2013 at his home in St. Louis Missouri. He was born in Houston, Texas on December 15, 1940.
Greg attended St. Christopher Elementary, was very proud to be in the first graduating class of Marian High School in 1958, graduated from Rice University in 1962 and became a Certified Public Accountant in 1970. He worked for Houston Light & Power, Foleys Department Store downtown, and Crossroads Furniture. In 1975 he moved with his family to The Hague, Netherlands with King Wilkerson, Inc. returning to Houston in 1978. In 1986 he became one of the partners of Black, Sivalls & Bryson. In 1993 he joined with his business partner, Carl Wilson, to form Task International, Inc. where he remained until illness forced him into retirement in 2006.
He married his best friend and high school sweetheart, Judith Louise Reeder, on July 2, 1960. They had three children, Catherine Ann, Michael Alan and Stephen Matthew Murphy. He was a quiet, gentle person of deep faith in God, honor and integrity. Due to his declining health he and Judy moved to St. Louis, Mo. in June 2011 to live close to their daughter, Cathy and her husband, Jack. Greg faced his illness as he lived his life with bravery, courage, strength, and dignity.
Greg is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Judy, daughter and son in law, Cathy and Jack Marler, St. Louis, son, Stephen Murphy, Houston, Texas, brother, Robert Murphy, wife Jeanette, and son Adam , Ennis Texas, several cousins, and dog Angel.
He was preceded in death by son, Michael Alan Murphy, father and mother, Alan Gregory Murphy, Sr. and Elsie Smith Murphy, brother, Matthew Thomas and numerous relatives.
Friends are cordially invited to join the family at a Mass for Greg celebrated by Father Niall Nolan, con celebrated by Father Tom Frank, SSJ, on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 5:00 PM at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 10688 Shadow Wood, Houston, Texas 77043, a parish reception following in the hall. Sunday April 14, 2013 the 8:30 AM Mass will be for Greg at St. Catherine of Siena attended by wife Judy, followed by a parish breakfast in the hall.

Until we meet again in our heavenly home, you will be forever in my heart and deeply missed by me, your family and all who were privileged to know you.
