Clifton Allen Obituary
Clifton Harvey Allen, 93, passed peacefully on January 8, 2013 with his caregiver, Danny Harvey, reading to him from the scriptures. He was born July 23, 1919, in Stanley, Iowa. He was a World War II veteran and was awarded the Bronze Star. After serving, he was employed by Goodwill Industries in Milwaukee - then moved to Houston in 1953 where he was employed by Joske's for 20-plus years in carpet sales, and then private contract carpet measurer.
He was a long-time member of a North Texas hunting group and especially enjoyed maintaining the hunting camp and cooking wild game. "Tip" Allen, as he was known by all, was forever loved by all in his neighborhood as the "fix-it" man and neighborhood watch person, and later as voluntary caregiver to so many of his friends in their time of need.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Arlene Pilsner Allen, his sister Marie Wunrow, his sister Faye Hayes , and his twin sister Wilma Masloff . He is survived by his sister Edythe Haebig, of Lexington Kentucky, by nephews Gary Haebig of Tucson, Alan Masloff of San Antonio, nieces Kathlyn Jones, Barbara Ramsey, Judith Hensley of Lexington Kentucky, Janet Snyder of East Bethel, Minnesota, Linda Hupman of Wausauw, Wisconsin and Kathryn Charron of Hewitt, Wisconsin.
A memorial mass will be held at a later date at Holy Ghost Catholic Church and he will be laid to rest alongside his wife, in Marshfield, Wisconsin. Thanks to the staff at Garden Terrace for his care and consideration and to his local friends who continued to visit & offer their support. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation in honor of Clifton Allen.
