First encountered Buster when he sang in quartets around Houston high schools. Was in a group with him once for a heartbeat. Then we were classmates at Rice University when he played basketball there. And, saw him briefly on one of my visits to Texas a few years ago. My condolences to the family. I'm sure he will be missed.

Old roomie, you made me buy my first guitar and showed me the fun of playing "real" music (50's & 60's, that is). Remember our debut at Kay's and payment in longnecks? the U of H Roman toga/purple passion party and the busted amplifier tubes? Greek's only song and sounding better than Ray Charles ever did? and Dickie-bird's having to listen to it all? What great memories. Save me a place where you are, old roomie, and keep the guitar in tune and the fingers calloused: We'll show St. Peter how to rock and roll. Won't ever forget you, good friend. Gordon
