Donald Teter fit the old adage " A Scholar and a Gentleman" in every sense of the word. I am qualified to make such judgement because Don and I became roommates in 1943, joined the Navy together, went thru Boot Camp together, then were college roommates again until we graduated in 1948. Don's generosity was a tremendous asset to his neighborhood, his community, and all his friends.
To know Don was to know his family for whom I have great admiration and appreciation. My deepest sympathy is extended to them.
Betty and I shall be forever grateful to Don and Gertrude for their faithful friendship.

I am so sorry to hear of Don's passing. What a sweet, gentle, kind person, as well as a "man of all seasons" in his many abilities and activities. His skill in genealogy was particularly astounding to me. My highest sympathy to all the family.

Don Teter was a true and honorable individual ... I had the pleasure to work with him for more than 10 years on mutual projects related to Houston Jewish Cemetery Preservation Projects ... recently, the Oran M. Roberts Chapter 440, UDC, honored him with the Judah P. Benjamin Award for Community Service and Historic Preservation … I will miss his knowledge and support ... and our occasional lunches at Shade in the Heights … He and his dear wife researched and wrote the book "Jewish Burials in Texas" which was a benchmark in Jewish research as well as the indexing of the Jewish Herald Voice newspaper for life cycle events … He has left a remarkable legacy for researchers … God bless him and his family … he was a true gentleman ….

Don's life was truly inspirational, and it touched both individuals who knew him and those who benefit from the many parts of the community he served and cared for. In these ways, Don will always be part of our lives.
Corky and I send our heartfelt condolences to his entire family.
