Eugene Edward (Gene) Babb, born February 10, 1936, joined the Lord Jesus in heaven on February 24, 2011. Gene was a proud Marine veteran and served the Houston community for 25 years as an HPD officer and detective. He also provided security at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Houston, for 16 years, serving as Director of Security for 10 years. Gene retired to teach criminal justice at San Jacinto College where his dynamic personality and interactive teaching style inspired many.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Ginger; three children, Kelly, Holly and Heather; seven grandchildren; sister Nell Kenyon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Monday, February 28 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Pat H. Foley, 1200 W. 34th Street. Services at Pat H. Foley will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 1, with burial following at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Gene's memory may be made to Garden Oaks Baptist Church, Attn: Youth Ministry, 3206 North Shepherd Drive, Houston TX 77018 or to a charity of one's choice.
