Franklin Rudolph "Rudy" Green, 89, died May 11, 2013 in Houston, family by his side. Born in Monticello, Ms. August 10, 1923 to Charles & Katie Peavy Green. Entered the Army Air Corps in 1943 where he became 1st Lt. commanding a B-24 in US and overseas operations. He received the American Campaign, Asiatic Campaign, & WWII Victory medals and the Air Medal for Meritorious Achievement, discharged as Captain in 1957. Survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara Morris Green, children Wayne Schlesinger, Sandra Stark, Forrest Green, Sherwood Green and Leanne, Kelly Green and Tina, 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
He attended Univ. of Texas & Univ. of Houston, studied electrical engineering leading to a 35-yr. career with Dresser Industries. Rudy was "camp boss" at deer leases in Texas for fellow employees. "PeePaw" shared his love of hunting with children, grandchildren & co-workers earning the nickname "Buckfinder" for his knack of finding "the big one". His love of the outdoors included Galveston spending summers in Jamaica Beach at the family beach house he built with his sons in 1969. An avid fisherman always in the Gulf catching speckled trout.
Graveside services will be held at 12:45pm, Friday, May 17 at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veteran's Memorial Dr., Houston 77038, arrangements by Claire Brothers Funeral Home (713-271-7250). Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation
