Gwendolyn Faye Griffin-Hardy, beloved mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend, passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at MD Anderson Cancer Center. Her incredible faith, strength and spirit, as well as the love, prayers and support from family and friends, helped her wage a valiant and dignified five year battle with lymphoma. Gwen was born on September 15, 1954 in Ft. Hood, Texas. She retired from the Houston Independent School District in 2007, after a 30 year career with the Central Motor Pool. She was also a Tax Professional with H&R Block.

The family would like to extend its love and gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff of MD Anderson Cancer Center for their compassionate and professional care during Gwen's illness. A special thank you to Dr. Fowler (who not only was her physician but also her friend), to her special nurse and friend Amy and to her adopted daughter and prayer partner, Michelle who cared for Gwen and offered loving and spiritual support and an amazing extension of herself during the past year. Services will be held on Saturday, 4/13/13 at 11:15 a.m., at Bethany Baptist Church, 9002 Shady Dr., Houston, TX 77016. Visitation 9:00 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.; Interment - Brookside Memorial Park.
