Irving Gordon, born in New York City, on November 4, 1924, to Nathan and Ida; passed away on May 21, 2013. Irving was proud to be a New Yorker and never entirely shed his New York affections. He cherished fond memories of growing up in Astoria, Queens with his older brother, Harry. Irving served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and while temporarily stationed in Austin, Texas, met his future wife, Rose Pryzant at a USO function. After he was discharged from the service, he returned to Texas in November, 1946, and married Rose on June 8, 1947. Nothing was more important to him than his family. In his later years he took great pleasure in his weekly Torah studies at Congregation Beth Israel in Houston. Irving was devoted to physical fitness which included biking, playing volleyball, bowling and swimming. He enjoyed a successful business career as president of Supermatic Enterprises.
