Jack Douglas Lee, born in Timpson, Texas, September 22, 1923 to Elzie and Ura Lee, the oldest of seven children, died August 29, 2013.|
He retired in 1986 at age 62 from the Houston Police Department, where he served for almost 36 years. He was a Detective/Sergeant in the Burglary and Theft Division.
Jack served in the U.S. Army Air Corp in the European theater during World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1946 as a Staff Sergeant.
Together with his wife, Sheila, he raised five children.
He is survived by his sons Mark Lee, Eric Lee and wife Tamara, Joel Lee and wife Jerri, his daughter Kelley Roper, his grandchildren, Brandon and Amanda Lee, Megan and Colin Roper, Evan Lee, Matthew Lee and wife Sarah, Daniel Lee, and his great grandchildren, Aaron and Elizabeth Lee. His wife, Sheila, and son, Mike, preceded him in death.
A Memorial Service is planned for 7 p.m. Thursday, September 5, 2013 at the Terrace of Champions at 14050 Cutten Road, Houston, Texas 77069.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Houston Police Retired Officers Association or the Salvation Army.
