Jimmie Johnson Obituary

JOHNSON
JIMMIE JOHNSON, 85, passed away in his home on November 3, 2011 from a brief battle with cancer. Jimmie was born on March 18, 1926 in Hamshire, Texas to CR and Gladys Johnson. He moved to Katy in 1929 and grew up on the family rice farm. He took up farming and continued until he retired in 1982. He met Eloise Gassett, a nursing student at the time, and dated until she graduated from nursing school. They were married on December 7, 1951 and went on to have three sons, Bob, Charlie, and James who all still live in Katy.
Jimmie is preceded in death by his parents, CR and Gladys Johnson, wife, Eloise, and brothers, Harvey and Harold. He is survived by his sister, Leona Freeman; his son, Bob and his wife Jodi, their two daughters, Sara and Cory Johnson, and great grandson, Larz Johnson; son Charlie and his wife Teri; and son, James and his wife Donna. He is also survived by countless nieces, nephews, and close friends.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, November 6, 2011, at the Schmidt Funeral Home Chapel, in Katy. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 7, 2011, at the First Baptist Church, in Katy, with Rev. Kenneth Temple and Rev. Tom Bolin officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts be made to the First Baptist Church of Katy, 600 Pin Oak Road, Katy, Texas 77494.
