Obituary Condolences

Joan Irene (Swanson) Scott Our beloved mom, Jo Scott died on July 3, 2013 at the age of 80. Jo was born and raised in Clear Lake, Iowa; attended Iowa State University and graduated from the University of Iowa. She married Charles Scott of Marcus, Iowa, on August 8, 1957. She was the baby of her family, a high school drum majorette, a college cheerleader, a P.E teacher, an Air-Force wife, a devoted wife, mother & homemaker, a generous grandmother, an avid traveler & reader, and a humble example of Christian faith.
Jo was a long-time member of Bear Creek United Methodist Church and the Betwixt and Between Sunday School Class. Her children are especially appreciative of the friendships Jo enjoyed with "The Ladies", as we like to call them, and the wonderful memories they created on trips, lunches together after church, and game days. Our hearts will also be forever grateful to her wonderful neighbors and to our extended family, who, despite the distance between us, are always close in heart. To the staff and residents of her new home at Parkway Place, we are grateful for kindnesses shown and wish you had more of an opportunity to get to know our mom.
Jo was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Nellie Swanson; husband, Charles Scott; sister Pauline Neumann; and brothers Frank & Rollin Swanson. She is survived by her children, Jorganne Cook of Salt Lake City, UT; Kim Flaharty and husband Gary of Houston; Kelly Holloway and husband Mark of Sequim, WA; Kip Scott and wife Heather of Katy, TX, and grandchildren: Marcia, Shannon, Sean, Jennifer, Amy, Matthew, Logan, Lauren and Lucas; and great-granddaughter Jessica. She is also survived by her brother, Don Swanson and his wife Dorothy of Golden, CO, and numerous nieces and nephews.
