John was a former employee of ExxonMobil, and worked as a systems analyst with the Global Information Technology team. When he was a kid, John was a champion flyer of model airplanes and his passion for the hobby continued until the end of his life. He was an avid Science Fiction fan, especially of Star Trek, and was awed by the beauty and mystery of the universe.
John is survived by his wife of 40 years, Denise; daughter Jacqueline and son Jonathan (Lyndsay); granddaughter Jordan Carlin and grandson Taylor Ackerer. He is also survived by sisters Barbara Freimann (George), Jeanne Ackerer, and Betty Hanway (J.P.)
His kindness, generosity, wit and laughter will be greatly missed. He was loved.
