John English Obituary

John English
1951-2015
John English, born on 5/18/1951 in New York City, considered himself a native Texan moving to Bellaire, Texas at age 8. He attended Condit Elementary, Jane Long Jr. High, and Bellaire High School, Class of 69, where he played football and loved to surf. He was a graduate of Florida International University.
John was a dedicated employee of SpawGlass for 41 years. He was proud to be one of the ten original stockholders of the Texas based general contractor.
He attended Community of Faith Church in Hockley, Texas and First Lakeview of Volente, Texas. He also attended a weekly men's Bible study.
John was blessed with many friends and made friends wherever he went. He will be remembered for his big heart and big laugh. He recently retired in December, Lolli and Pop loved spending time with their adoring family and doing fun outings with their precious grandsons. He loved to travel and loved the water, especially the beach. It is fitting he died while in the beautiful clear water of Cozumel, Mexico while traveling with the love of his life, wife, Sherry, along with some longtime friends.
John was a leader, encourager, and provider. He worked hard to give his family the world.
Jesus, his Savior, has come to take him to the glory of God. John leaves behind, wife of 33 years, Sherry Hitchcock English, daughter Kristen Anne Bundy (Christopher), son Jonathan Brent, grandsons Joseph Lee and Oliver English Bundy, brothers Steve English and Ted Monaghan, sister Sue Henry (Bill), many nieces and nephews, friends and associates who will miss him. He is preceded in death by father Stephen Mahoney English and mother Susanna Kosco English.
He will remain in our hearts forever.
A memorial service will be held Monday, July 20, 10:30 am at Memorial Drive UMC, 12955 Memorial Drive, Houston 77079, gravesite service to follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.

My first impression of John:
I thought he was so strong and brave.
We moved into the neighborhood around 1992.
We had not lived in our house long and Randy had gone out of town.
The girls and I had been outside watching fireworks and when we came in the house, the door to our side porch was open, not unlocked but opened. I was afraid someone might be in the house. We went down to the English's and I told John my concerns. He disappeared for a moment and came back with a sports bag. He was a big strong brave man with a gun in his sports bag! Of course it must of been the wind, but John made sure there were no uninvited guest in the house. He was my hero. You are a great neighbor and we will miss you.

I'm so sorry for your loss. The death of a loved one can truly be a devastating time. Whenever I experience trying times like this, I think of Phillipians4:6,7 where it encourages us to turn to God in prayer and he will give us "the peace of God that surpasses all understanding." I hope this can bring you some measure of comfort.
