I played EverQuest with Kevin and still think of him to this day
Adam Psencik
January 12, 2004
Today was the first time I heard the news. At first, disbelief, then shock, then sadness, a deep and profound sadness. My name is Adam, and I also knew your brother in game rather well. So well in fact, that last year we planned to meet each other at the UT-Austin/A&M game.....as I'm a student at the University of Texas. Well one thing led to another, and I was unable to make it due to it being on Thanksgiving Weekend and plans I had with the family. I now regret that I had to cancel meeting him like that.
Earlier this year, I quit Everquest entirely, and well.....I didn't keep in touch with Kevin. I didn't know him in real life that well, and I just sort of.....dropped off from contact of anyone here. Every time I speak to a friend I had in Everquest, I'm tempted to come back, even though I know its not good for me to do so........the only thing I miss from this game are friends like him.
To mention any specific experience I had with your brother would do him a great injustice, I can't relate much about the good times we had together. All I can tell you is that Kevin was one of the kindest people I've ever met, always willing to listen, no matter what I had to talk about. He was easy going, yet fiercely defended his principles. He could always make me laugh, or smile when I'd gone through a real rough day. Your brother was one of the few in game that I always wanted to be around.....and not only because my character was his 'meat shield', but because we were friends. I only wish I had found the time to catch up with him, to meet with him again.....especially since he lives so close to us.
I deleted my screenshots from EQ, and now I truly regret that, else I would have sent you some shots of your brother's character.......I know its nothing compared to the real thing, but that is all I had of your brother, and now I have nothing left except for a few memories. My deepest sympathies to you and your father......and may God be with you all.

Kent and Bart,
We are devastated by the tragic news. Your family has been in our prayers throughout the holidays. We are truly blessed to have known such a wonderful family in the short time that we were neighbors. The memories we all have will never be broken. We miss you and you will remain in our thoughts and prayers.

Hello... I was not a close friend to Kevin, but I did have the honor to know him from EverQuest. He was always very kind and generous, and always had time to listen. I feel for your loss... Two years ago, when I was 21, I lost my sister. Below, I am copying the lyrics to one of the songs I sang at her funeral... I hope that the words will help you as they did me.
Return to Paradise
(Elton John/Bernie Taupin - 1978)
It's paradise here where the sun meets the sea,
There's nothing to fear and so much to be,
But soon I must go say goodbye to it all,
That homeland of mine is beginning to call.
Goodbye doesn't mean this has to be the end,
Fading dreams grow cold as ice,
And I got a feeling we will meet again,
When we return to paradise.
The wind in our hair and the sun in our eyes,
There's no need for tears and no time for lies,
So reach out your hand and I'll reach out my heart,
Remember me while we are apart.
I'm heading homeward,
Leaving sunshine and heading for rain,
But we'll return to paradise again...
---
I am very sorry for your tragic loss. I wish you the best.

Tho we never spoke in real life Kevin was still able to brighten my day just with a simple joke. I spoke to him quite a few times over a number of years and his great personality still shone through a computer character he shall be greatly missed. I would also like to send the condolences of a person who does not yet know but will be devastated to find out because he is in boot camp at the moment. I'm sure Nick(Milen) would want me to send his regards as well he was a good friend to Kevin. You will be greatly missed my friend.

I knew Kevn through Everquest. He was an amazing guy, fun to be around and a joker and when it came to serious times he was serious.. I wish his family the best and hope everyone who knew him can remember all the good things he did.

I knew Kevin from the game Everquest and spent countless hours talking with him and having great laughs. I probably played with him for over 2 1/2 years and was simply the nicest guy. I knew Kevin from Everquest also. He was one of a few that I always looked up to and strived to become as good. I'm still in shock over all of this, and in a state of deep sadness not only for the loss of a friend. Also for the loss the family has endured, with losing Kevin and Patricia.
Bart and Kent, I hope god grants you the strength of mind and body to make it through this painful time. I hope you both fully recovery, I realize nothing can ever replace your loved ones. I just hope you may find a sense of peace eventually. You both have my prayers and my love. My heart goes out to you both.

Kevin was one of those rare, special people that only saw the good in people it seems. In an online community where people are often just a name on the screen, he was one of those ones that everyone knew, and everyone liked or loved. That just speaks volumes for the type of person I'm sure he was in real life.
May Kevin and his mother be sitting next to God, and may his family find peace one day soon. My family's thoughts and prayers are with you all...God Bless you all.

My sincerest sorrow goes out to the Whitaker family. This news has had a very profound and tragic affect on many people, myself included. Kevin was a very great person. He had an impact on a great many people throughout the world - even if for most of them it was through a computer. His spirit, his outlook, and his heart was felt by all that met him. Mr. Whitaker, you should be very proud. Kevin was someone many strive to be.

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow;
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain;
I am the gentle autumn's rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft star that shines at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there; I did not die.

Kev, I know you're in heaven right now, probably wearing a Vulak robe and chanting DOZEKAR DOZEKAR DOZEKAR over and over. You wouldn't want any of us to be sad right now, and you probably wouldnt understand it if we were. When the Cubs beat the Astros this year, I'll be thinking of you. My only hope is that you know how much you meant to everyone who met you. I will see you someday.

Kevin was one of those upstanding people who made it a point to be a friend no matter what it took. I was fortunate to have valued that friendship while I could take advantage of some really good times.
The world is a far worse place now that so many people have been deprived of the simple pleasures of laughter Kevin could bring out.
Hold the door for me E, I'll see you when my time comes.

A poem I came across years ago thats been a help to me.
"Ascension" by Colleen Corah Hitchcock
And if I go,
while you're still here...
Know that I live on,
vibrating to a different measure
-behind a thin veil you cannot see through.
You will not see me,
so you must have faith.
I wait for the time when we can soar together again,
-both aware of each other.
Until then, live your life to its fullest.
And when you need me,
Just whisper my name in your heart,
...I will be there.

Although I had never met Kevin in person, I was a friend and fellow online gamer of his for about 3 years. I had alot of long talks with him about life and what he wanted in the future. I am sad to hear that he will never fulfill those dreams. From the few years I spent talking with him over an online game, I could gather that he was one of the most caring, selfless people that could bring a smile to my face as well as many others he touched within our online community. Kevin ( Eonwe ) You will be missed greatly friend. I don't remember a time ever in my life.. when I cried about the loss of someone I didn't know in my Real Life... today was that time for me.
