LEE AYERS Obituary
LEE AYERS, 86, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 27, 2010 after a courageous battle against pancreatic cancer.He was born on June 28, 1924, in Wichita Falls, Texas. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Harry Lee, and Cora Ann Ayers, and his brother, Harry K. Ayers, all of Wichita Falls. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Margret, daughter, LeAnn Ayers of Fort Worth, grandson Scott Schmidly, Scott's wife Tamara, and great-granddaughters Hannah and Kate, of Dallas. He is also survived by a niece Carolyn Hausler, her husband, Jeff, a great nephew Shane Hausler and wife, Lori all of Frisco and great niece, Shelby Hausler of Irving.In 1947, at 16, Lee entered Texas A & M. Two years later, on March 28, 1943, he proudly joined the US Army. Lee served his country with honor as a 1st Lieutenant while assigned to Battery C in the 429th Field Artillery, Luzon Philippine, Islands. While continuing his Reserve service, Lee graduated in 1949 with degrees in Petroleum and Mechanical Engineering and began a 47-year career in the oil and gas industry.A military tribute will be held Monday, August 2, at 10:30 a.m. at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veteran's Parkway, Houston, Texas.
