AKIN
Lloyd Fred Akin , 86, of Humble, Texas, born December 10, 1924 passed away at his residence on March 18, 2011. Lloyd is preceded in death by his parents: Roy and Edna Akin; sisters: Paula Jones, Faye Jones, and infant brother, Roy Vernon Akin. Left to cherish his memories: sister, Sandra Jaynes; brother and sister-in-law: Kenneth and Loretta Akin; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Fred served in the U.S. Navy from Sept. 1944 to July 1946, as an Armed Guard. He also served his country in the U.S. Army from July 1947 thru July 1949 as well as the Merchant Marines for several years. While in the Merchant Marines he traveled around the world several times, and had many interesting stories to tell his family. We will truly miss our brother and uncle. Visitation will be Tues., Mar. 22nd from 5-8PM. Funeral Services will be 9:00AM, Wednesday, Mar. 23rd. Both services will be held at Brookside Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Houston National Cemetery.
