Ronald Marshall Obituary

RONALD REECE MARSHALL of Houston, Texas, passed away on Monday, November 13, 2001, at the age of 30. Reece was born November 3, 1971, in Baytown, Texas. He was an extraordinary young man, achieving many academic goals in his short life. Having won a National Merit Scholarship while in St. John's School, he enrolled at Rice University, receiving his bachelor's degree in Psychology and Art/Art History. He attended Stanford University, completing a Masters Degree in Communications and Media Studies. Recently, he began work toward an MBA degree. Reece was employed with Barnes and Noble and worked with his friend and mentor Mrs. Ann Thompson, creator of the Let's Go to the Opera lecture series. He participated in the AIDS Foundation, S.T.E.P. (students to end prejudice), Y.A.R.F. (young adults for reproductive freedom), Coalition for the Homeless and the Habitat for Humanity. Reece is preceded in death by his Grandparents, G.B. and Nellie Hollingshead, his Grandfather, T.O. Marshall, great aunt Bernice Clayton and his beloved dog, Muffie. He is survived by his parents, Ron and Glenda Marshall; brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Randall Marshall and Tessa Bakker Marshall of New York City; brother, Rodney Marshall of Miami, Florida; and Reece Gwendolyn Marshall, grandmother, of La Porte, Texas. A Memorial Service in celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 17, 2001, in the Rice Memorial Chapel at Rice University, followed by a reception in the courtyard.
