William AKERS Obituary
William Wescoat Akers, 88, of Houston, Texas, died on Thursday, April 19, 2012. Bill was born in Bonne Terre, Missouri on November 7, 1923 to the late Wilbur Dana Akers and Elnora Baker Akers. He proudly served as an Aviator in the US Navy before earning his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. Thereafter he began a successful and satisfying career in the oil and gas industry which eventually led him to Houston. Bill culminated his career in the ownership and operation of Luci Petroleum, Inc. He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard B. Akers and his beloved wife, Lucille W. Akers. Together Bill and Lucy enjoyed 27 years of marriage, which included frequent family celebrations, building a successful business, weekends at their beach house, traveling the world, and spending time with their many friends and loved ones. Bill is survived by his children, Jerry W. Akers and Karen Akers Salazar; their respective spouses Rosalyn Akers and Albert Salazar; grandchildren Cara Salazar, Judith and Matthew Caldwell, Elissa and James Vogelpohl, Lindsay Akers, Matthew Akers, and four great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to your favorite church or charity. A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 23, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Earthman - Hunter's Creek Chapel, 8303 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77024.
