Hello,
We realize that we are very late to express our deepest condolences, but we wanted to let your family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this month and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and hometown of Jeremy E. Ray US Army 1st Lieutenant.

We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families and friends and others who support our mission.

We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.

J Ray. Always the reserved smiling person who I played football with and went through Cook and JV with. You would be 35 with a family and a few kids now. I strive to raise my kids to be a resemblance of how you carried yourself. Quiet confidence and a genuine caring heart with a sneaky sense of humor. Never forgotten brother!

Dear family and friends of Jeremy Ray,

Yesterday, I had the privilege of riding my bicycle in the honor of Jeremy. I rode several miles along the Potomac River on the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal towpath near the town of Harper's Ferry. This was part of a project to have a volunteer ride at least 1 mile for each of the 6800+ who have died in Iraq/Afghanastan (www.werideforthefallen.org).

As I read about Jeremy on this site and many others I was please to learn he was an Aggie. I spent many of my military years in Texas and flew with many Aggies. I was also impressed by what his friends and subordinates had to say about his leadership style and abilities. I think I really would have liked Jeremy had we met.

I can never know the pain you have endured in losing Jeremy, but I hope you can take comfort in the fact that thousands of Americans are striving to keep the memories of these fallen soldiers meaningful and relevant. I was pleased to have the opportunity to honor Jeremy.

God Bless,
Lt Col Matt Gruner

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Jeremy, but I am remembering
his service and sacrifice. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

Dear Debbie and Randy,
I just today learned of Jeremy's death. The only reason I can think of that i was not aware was probably because my daughter (a now discharged Sgt in the Army Reserves) was in the hospital having surgery that day.

No words can take away your pain and as a mom, I mourn with you. I recall my conversations with the two of you at JVHS football games when we discussed Jeremy going to Texas A&M and being in the Corp. I know he was a proud Aggie and an even prouder soldier.

As parents, you have made the ultimate sacrifice, your son. As an American, I thank Jeremy and you.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.

To the family and friends of 1LT Jeremy Ray. I hope and pray that God has provided you all with love, comfort and peace. I am sending all of you a warm hug from a stranger who cares about you, your loss and your well being. I personally didn't know Jeremy, but my nephew did. If he was anything like my nephew, then he was an incredible man! My nephew, (Chad) aka "The Golden Child" is the man in the middle of photo #3. I appreciate all of the efforts, sacrifices and heros within all of our armed forces. I will continue to pray everyday. Not only for my nephew, but for all of the men & women standing beside him, fighting for our country. Jeremy, please rest in peace, your duties here are done and I thank you. Please continue to help watch over the troops. God Bless you, your family and friends, my nephew and all the men & women serving in this war. I will continue to do what I can from here.

Sir,
It was an honer to have served as your gunner and RTO from training on Ft Hood through our rotation at NTC. Being your eyes and ears when you took a simulated hit in NTC. Being your voice when we were boots on the ground in the MOUT site. I'll never forget the way you were always out front with the rest of us soldiers, leading by example and preparing us to deploy to Iraq. You are greatly missed by the soldiers of King Battery sir.

Dear Ray Family,
Jeremy was one year my superior in the Corps of Cadets at Texas A&M. He was a leader unlike any other. His presence was always there even if he wasn't yelling and screaming like all of the others. He was a man I tried to emulate when I got to where he was. He was a great guy and he is truly missed.

To the Ray Family:
I knew Jeremy through football in high school. As one of his athletic trainers I was privileged to see him almost everyday. A friend of mine happened to come into the gun range I manage a few weeks ago and gave heartbreaking news. Images of Jeremy came to mind on the field and the casual conversations we would have while he was on the sideline. He was a person you would always look to when you needed to smile. Always a happy guy. Jeremy will be missed by my entire family (my mother works at JVHS) We send our love and prayers to you, and will be so excited to join him when we all get to paradise!

January 9, 2008

To the Family and Friends of this Soldier:
I will stand in grief with this soldier's family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten. You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.
If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero.
God Bless this soldier and family who gave all and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.

As a Vietnam Veteran and the State Chaplain of the Georgia Society, Sons Of The American Revolution, I speak for our President, Charlie A. Wrapped in the integrity of service to our nation and the inestimable values of duty, honor and country, your American hero stood on a wall of freedom for us all. This precious life, lived and lost in love of America, epitomized every attribute of patriotism the Sons Of The American Revolution hold dear. My deepest sympathy for your loss. Jeremy was a classmate of mine and a wonderful, respectable young man. To the Ray Family,
K know that words can not begin to express how sorry we are for your loss.
He was my husband's section leader briefly in 1/3 but left an everlasting impression. One of his favorite memories of LT Ray was when they had combatives and were partnered together, it was raining and muddy but that didn't deter them from completing their task or getting muddy. I met him there briefly as it was time for chow and they did not have much time to eat and change. I talked with him at the FRG meeting and he was such a wonderful person and proud soldier.
My husband was deeply affected when they were informed about LT Ray. We would like your family to know that however brief his time here was, he touched so many lives in such a positive and inspirational manner that he will never be forgotten. May you take comfort in knowing how many people loved him, and will continue to keep him alive in their hearts.
With deepest sympathy,
PFC David and Liza Blanco

To the Ray family. I am so sorry for your lost. Your son was my platoon leader who wanted nothing but to do his job well and right, and take care of his soldiers. He will be missed but never forgotten in the KING battery.

To the Ray Family,

My son called yesterday to tell me about roll call without you son to answer when his name was called. My son told me that Lt. Ray was a good guy and a great soldier. I thank you and honor your sons memory for being there for my own son. I know there is nothing to say to make it better, but when my son died, 20 years ago, I recieved this poem and would like to share it with you.

When I must leave you
For a little while
Please do not grieve
And shed wild tears
Or hold your sorrow to you
Through the years
But start out bravely
With a gallant smile
And for my sake
And in my name
Live on and do
All things the same
Feed not your loneliness
On empty days
But fill each waking hour
In useful ways
Reach out your hand
In comfort and cheer
And I in turn will comfort you
And hold you near
And never, never
Be afraid to die
For I am waiting for you in the sky!

Mr. and Mrs. Ray, I had the privilige of meeting you and Jeremy on the day our guys left for Iraq. My husbands name is Chuck and he served with Jeremy at DMC in Iraq. You were so kind to us and our daughter as we sat for such a long time in the grass next to the building. I have been praying faithfully for your family since I heard about your loss. I pray that God will give you the strength and comfort that only he can give.
This I call to mind and therefore I have hope: Because of the Lords great love we are not comsumed, for his compassions never fail. Lamentations 3:21-22

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Ray and family

....Heart felt condolences is all we can muster for there are no words, no thoughts, no profound wisdom that we can offer to console you or to answer the nagging question, why, why, why. The pain stings like a never ending and merciless reminder that cannot be controlled. And there is pitifully little relief from the conscience reality of the loss of your son.

Gather with family and friends and comfort one another and we your friends and neighbors will pray that you find peace without bitterness. Jeremy is at peace in the arms of the Lord for he no longer feels the pain or fears that life in the flesh makes us bear. Know well that he is safe for salvation of a confessed believer has been pre-purchased and it is irrevocable.

Last week my wife and I attended the graduation of our daughter in law at Texas A & M. In the ceremony 41 young Aggies received their commissions. It was a special moment that captivated all who attened. I noticed tears in my wife's eyes as she began to sob. She was praying for their protection. We all feel your pain.

Heartbroken Aggie

December 29, 2007

Dear Ray Family,

I did not know your son, but I grieve for your loss. As a fellow Aggie, I am heartbroken that we have lost a member of our family. Yesterday afternoon, as I turned onto the feeder road, I saw just ahead of me on the highway the Patriot Guard Riders. My coworkers, who were in the car with me, exclaimed, "What's going on?" I said, "We lost another soldier, and all those men have come to honor him." We pulled over to the side of the road and sat in silence as the funeral procession passed us by. I wiped a tear from my eye as I remembered honoring a dear friend of mine KIA in Iraq just one year ago. My heart ached for all of Jeremy's family and friends. He was, without a doubt, a brave, selfless man - and the world is a better place for having known him. On April 21, 2008 I will stand at Muster and answer "here" for your amazing son. Thank you for your family's ultimate sacrifice. I hope God grants you peace and understanding.

"Mark them present in our hearts.
We'll meet some other day
There is no death, but life eterne
For old friends such as they!"

To the Ray Family; I am First Sergeant Theodore Durand from KING Battery. Your son & brother, was very much "my son" too. I feel a tremendous loss and pain, but a heartfelt appreciation for having known and been able to stand beside Jeremy. He was and will always be a part of this battery and will stay with me forever. We are sincerely a better and prouder unit because of him.
Jeremy and your family will remain in our hearts and prayers.

Dear Randy, Debbie and Justin,
We are so sorry to hear about the loss of your son and brother Jeremy. We met many years ago when my daughter, Christine, and Justin were in the "Peter Pan" play and we carpooled to their rehearsals.
As we gather around you in thought and prayer, we ask that the God of all comfort would comfort you in this time of need and keep you in His peace. Much love to you and all your family.

dear family members of LT Ray, I wanted to say how sorry I am about your loss. I was there when LT Ray died. He was attached to my unit and working with me and others at the DMC in Iraq. He was a good leader and a great man. The suicide bombing took us all by suprise, none of us ever thought one would hit us. I am sorry for your loss.
