Sadegh Nasserzadeh Obituary
Sadegh Nasserzadeh, born on 01/01/1921 in Boroujerd, Iran passed away in peace on Feb 01, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. A husband of 62 years, a father, a grandfather, a great grandfather, a dear friend and a scholar, immigrated to the U.S. in 1998 to retire near his children in Houston. His long career in public education began in 1945 as a high school teacher. He served as a principal in several high schools between 1948 and 1957. In 1962, he was appointed head of Tehran's central school district and also served as director of public relations for ministry of education. His interest in politics led him to join Iran Noveen party and later ran and won a seat as a member of Iran's parliament in 1971. In 1976 he was appointed deputy minister of education and served in this position until 1979. He has written several books on education, served on the editorial boards of several newspapers in Iran, and served as a director of Iranian Telecommunication Co.
He is preceded in death by his father Taghi, mother Bibi Soltan, and sister Moneer Nasserzadeh. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Shamsi Sharif-Hosseini, his brother Heshmat Nasserzadeh, son Shahriar and his wife Nooshin, daughter Shahrzad and her husband Hamid Hamadanian, daughter Sholeh and her husband Eric Karsten, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
A private family burial was held on Feb 5, 2013 at Memorial Oaks cemetery. A memorial celebration of his life will be held on Sunday Feb 10, 2013 at 11:30am at Houston Marriott, 1750 West Loop South.
