Calvin H. Nelson, of Houston, passed away on March 26, 2013. He was born on November 7, 1924 in Donner, LA to Arthur and Edna Langlois Nelson. Calvin graduated from Reagan High School in 1942. He attended Stanford University for the Transportation Management Program and Harvard University's Program for Management Development. Calvin was in the US Army 70th Infantry Division from 1943-1946. He proudly served during the European Theatre of Operations, was discharged as Master Sergeant and awarded Bronze Star Medal for bravery. Calvin worked for more than 27 years with Southern Pacific Railroad ending his career with SP as Assistant General Manager. His career also included President Calvin H. Nelson and Associates, President and CEO Wyer Dick and Associates and President Advantage Consultants. Calvin was preceded in death by his parents; one sister; three brothers. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Virginia Nelson; daughters, Melody Nelson and Pam Nelson Holm and husband Chuck; grandson Nelson Holm and wife Courtney; great-grandson, Hudson Holm; and great-granddaughter, Eleanor Holm; and other loving relatives. A memorial service will be held in Calvin's honor at 3 PM on Saturday, March 31, 2013 at Lakewood United Methodist Church, 11330 Louetta Road, Houston, TX 77070.
