Jack Duane Amason, loving husband, adoring father, and beloved grandfather, age 86, passed away Thursday, September 19, 2013. He was born in Brenham, Texas. Jack was a US Navy WW2 Veteran and later retired from HL&P after 45 years. He was a former weightlifting champ, Mr. Southwest Texas; and an avid hunter and gardener. His final years were enjoyed walking the mall daily with his close friends. Preceded in death by his parents, Liddie and William Amason and brother, Billy. Survived by his wife of 46 years, Lois Amason; daughters, Dianna Kaufman and husband Kim, and Donna Shirley and husband Kerry; son, Dean Amason and wife Debbie; granddaughters, Tammy Stilling, Heather Dodson, Christi Baylor, Lindsay Kaufman, and Danielle Amason; grandsons, Jarrod Burton, Shawn Shirley, and Branden Shirley; numerous great-grandchildren; and her sister, Patsy Leidthke and husband Raymond. Visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, September 22, 2013 at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be 2:30 p.m., Monday, September 23, 2013 in the Chapel of Earthman Resthaven. Interment will follow at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery.
