John Blassingame Obituary
John William Blassingame, departed this world on Feb 1, 2014. He was born in Alamo,Tx on April 17, 1926 to John And Golda Blassingame. He is survived by his sister, Cherie Archibald of Houston,TX; daughter, Linda Cruce of Pearland,Tx; son, David Blassingame and wife Rebecca of Houston,Tx; grandchildren, Scott Blassingame of Houston,Tx, Melissa Blassingame of Austin,Tx. John was a star athlete for Edinburg High School as well as Pan American college ( where he was one pitch short of throwing a no hitter). John joined the Navy in 1944 as a Seaman First Class and was honorably discharged in November 1945. He moved to Houston and met his future wife Nancy at the University of Houston. He was employed at GMAC for many years until he went to work for U.S.I. in Deer Park, TX. John was truly a renaissance man as he excelled at golf, photography, portrait oil painting and tennis as well as being an accomplished pianist. It was always fun to watch him complete a complex crossword puzzle in minutes while explaining the most obscure clues. John was a devoutly religious man and will be deeply missed by his friends and family. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 5, 2014 from 1PM to 2:30PM at Grand View Funeral Home. Graveside Services will follow at 3:00PM at Grand View Memorial Park.
