Rollo J. Hopkins Jr., 90, passed away at his home on Feb. 27, 2014 after a brief illness. Rollo was born and raised in Edgerton, Ohio. After serving in the US Army during World War II, he attended and graduated from Ohio State University, Class of '49. He and his wife Joan, who preceded him in death, moved to Houston shortly thereafter where they remained for the rest of their lives. He is survived by his son Michael Hopkins, daughter Lisa Smith, daughter-in-law Lisa Hopkins, son-in-law Ken Smith, and granddaughter Megan Smith. Rollo was a loving husband, father and grandfather. During his life, Rollo was a Boy Scout leader, a member of the National Association of Accountants, and a Harris County Precinct Chairman. During his last few years, Rollo resided at Clarewood House Senior Community where he maintained his own apartment until his death. The family wishes to thank the residents and staff of Clarewood House for their friendship, care and support, especially during Rollo's last few weeks. Visitation will be Sunday, March 2, 2014 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at Woodlawn Funeral Home & Cemetery, 1101 Antoine Drive, Houston, TX 77055. A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 3, 2014 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel at Clarewood House, 7400 Clarewood Drive, Houston, TX 77036 followed by a graveside service at Woodlawn Funeral Home & Cemetery.
