Louise Gaylord Bickford of Cypress, Texas passed away on March 11, 2014 after a year-long battle with cancer. Louise was born to Ruth and C. Clyde Gaylord on February 9, 1933 in Boise, Idaho and raised with sisters Kathleen and Idell, and brother Clarence. She graduated from Boise High School and Boise Junior College. Boise was where Louise's love of horses was born. She was a cowgirl at heart and loved rodeos and horses. Throughout her life, she kept that passion by raising, American Quarter horses.|
It was in Boise where she met the love of her life, Cleo Bickford. After marriage, she quickly joined Cleo's love for flying and moved to Houston. After earning her pilot's license, Louise flew with the women pilots of the Ninety-Nines, and the Cessna 170 Association. Travels by car and their C170 took the family to every corner of the US and Canada.
Louise was a long-time member of the Cypress United Methodist Church and especially enjoyed fellowshipping with her Sunday school friends. She is survived by her companion Garnett Shockey, her sister Kathleen Edwards (& Bob) Boise, ID, brother Clarence Gaylord (& Jan) Boise, ID, and three sons Doug (& Trina) Austin, TX, Terry (& Carol) Katy, TX, and Jeff (& Linda) Federal Way, WA. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Idell Reeder and husband Cleo Bickford.
Visitation will be held 6-8pm Tuesday. Funeral services will be held 11am Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at Cypress United Methodist Church 13403 Cypress N Houston Rd Cypress, TX. Interment will follow at 2pm at Houston National Cemetery.
