Gertrude Ball Rusche Obituary
Gertrude Ball Rusche, age 79, of Houston, Texas, died peacefully on the 1st of April 2014, at Houston Hospice. She was born the 21st of April 1934, in Houston, Texas.
She is survived by her children, Anne (Tom) Singley of Houston, Michael (Cheryl) Gallaher of Houston, David ( Valerie ) Gallaher of San Francisco, and Steven (Leah) Gallaher of St. Charles, Illinois, her 7 grandchildren (Paul, Stephen, Allison, Abigail, Adam, Jacob, Lindsey), and her brother, James Clooney. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Lena Clooney, and her husbands, Bernard Arthur Gallaher, Robert F. Ball, Jr., and Nelson Rusche. Gertrude was a loving and supportive wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.
She was an active member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church for 40 years, serving as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion for many years. She was also a lay member of the Order of the Franciscans. She was a member of both Houston Country Club and Lakeside Country Club for many years.
The family wishes to thank all of the medical staff and caregivers who cared for her during her last years. A very special thank-you goes to her four main caregivers: Nelly Canales, Sonia Moreira, Maria Cervantes, and Lily Arbaiza. She loved each of you.
A Memorial Mass will be offered at ten o'clock in the morning on Tuesday, the 15th of April, at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, 11720 Joan of Arc Dr., in Houston, where the Most Reverend Bishop Vincent M. Rizzotto, will serve as celebrant. Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the Church Community Center.
Last week, the family gathered for a private Mass and Interment.
