Earl William Krahn passed away April 10, 2014. Mr. Krahn was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Klein, Tx, where he served as trustee, elder, vice-president, president and other special committees. He represented Trinity's circuit as a delegate to two Texas District conventions. In his later years, he worked with Trinity Men's Club and Lutheran Hour Ministries. He also served as President of the Tall Pines Zone, attending international conventions in six different states and receiving "Layman of the Year" award in 1996.
He loved being a farmer and was nominated for "Outstanding Young Farmer of the Year" in the Gulf Coast area in 1959, representing the vegetable farmers. Mr. Krahn retired from farming at the age of 46 and then operated Earl Krahn Real Estate for 30 years while working for and retiring from Sears after 16 years of service. He was a board member of Germania Farm Mutual Insurance for 30 years, school board member of Klein ISD, charter member of Klein Volunteer Fire Department, charter member of North Harris County German Society, lifelong member of "Spring Creek Historical Society" and lifelong member of "Good Samaritan Home". He authored his autobiography "A Journey Through Life with the Farmer", made presentations at the opening of Krahn and Kreinhop Elementary Schools in Klein ISD. He loved to hunt, fish and travel at home and abroad.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Simon and Agatha Kreinhop Krahn and sister, Cora Mae Haude. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Lillian Hildebrandt Krahn. Mr. Krahn was blessed with much joy and love from his family of 5 generations, son, Harold Krahn and wife Aline; daughter, Diane and husband Leslie Schroeder; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and numerous nephews, nieces and friends.
Visitation with the family will be held Sunday, April 13, 2014 from 4 - 6 PM at Klein Funeral Home in Tomball. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, April 14, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 5201 Spring Cypress Rd. Klein, Texas 77379. Interment will follow in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
