Robert Lee Obituary
Robert Whittier Lee, a quiet man born September 14, 1933, went home to the Lord May 26, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents, Geraldine & Robert Carll Lee, Sisters Joanne Rypysc and Patricia Lee, and brother, Barry Lee. Bob is survived by Janet, his loving wife of 57 years; children, Rob, Jennifer and Tracy, the love of his life; brother Richard of Framingham, MA and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bob was born in Arlington, MA. He graduated from University of MA Amherst. He proudly served in the Armed Forces from 1957 to 1959. Upon discharge, he worked for EG G and was involved with Johnston Island atomic testing in Hawaii. In 1968, he moved to Houston as treasurer of GAI GMX. Later, he was instrumental in forming the St. John Vianney Activity Center and managed it for 20 years under the guidance of Msgr. Tinney and then Msgr. Crosthwait. Those were the fun years. Bob enjoyed golf, making a hole in one, fishing and lobster dinners. He was a Scout Master, leading his son to become an Eagle Scout.
The Lee family will be present to receive friends on Monday, June 2, 2014 from 6 pm to 8 pm at Dettling Funeral Home, 14094 Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77079. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 7 pm. The Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at 10:30 am at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 625 Nottingham Oaks Trail, Houston, Texas 77079, The Reverend R. Troy Gately, Celebrant. Burial will occur at a later date at the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon, MA. Memorial Contributions may be made to Pope John XXIII Catholic High School, 1800 W.
