Gary Douglas Obituary
Gary Dennis Douglas passed away on the evening of May 30th 2014 in Katy, Texas at the age of 72. Gary was born on July 13, 1941 to Margaret and Chester Douglas in Houston, Texas and remained in the Greater Houston area throughout his life. Gary graduated from Jesse H. Jones High School in 1959, and attended the University of Houston and Texas A&M. Gary also proudly served in the United States Coast Guard.
Gary's career with Gulf and Chevron Oil, spanned over three decades and allowed him to work with cutting-edge computer systems and technologies. On April 19, 1979, Gary married Connie Crabb in Houston. In 1980, Gary and his family moved to Katy where he quickly became an avid fan of the Katy Tigers' football team and band. Gary enjoy being with his grandchildren, whether they were carving pumpkins, or sharing stories. Gary loved all the dogs he adopted over his lifetime (Bruno, Tilly, Tess, Tobie, Tango, and Girlie), and would always make sure to have them close, whether at home or for a drive. Gary earned his pilot's license, enjoyed flying, and loved engineering marvels as well as planes, trains, and stock cars.
Gary is survived by his wife of 35 years, Connie Douglas; his siblings Margie Fiegel, Ronald Douglas and wife Lynda; his children Terri Nichols and husband Jim, Denise Caldwell and husband Josh, Bobby Douglas, and Dustin Douglas; his grandchildren Emily, Erin, Ella, Hailey, Elin, Caleb, and Jordan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gary's visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 5, 2014, at the Schmidt Funeral Home Chapel, in Katy, where his funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday June 6, 2014. Interment in Katy Magnolia Cemetery.
