Obituary Condolences

Lauretta Bennett Passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 29,2014. She is survived by her two children, George Bennett Jr. and Pamela Bennett Werner Kamensky (Michael) and her sister Marilyn Meeks. She was born in Anthony,Kansas July 20,1920 to Bert and Mary Crum, the sixth of eight children raised in a rural farm area. After high school she received her teaching certification from State Teachers College at Emporia, Kansas. She met and married US Marine-George Bennett in Wichita,Kansas during WWll. Moving to Houston after the war she started a new career in bookkeeping working for several of Houston's largest automobile dealerships while raising her two children as a single parent. She enjoyed volunteering and teaching in many adult education literacy programs. Retiring in 1988 she spent her time with family, studying and documenting her family genealogy and especially enjoyed her four grandchildren; Tracy Bennett Speegle (Bob), David Werner, Lanae Werner Ortivez and Allison Werner Hoenen (Janning), and seven great grandchildren; Ryan Speegle, Gary Werner, Brandi Werner, James Werner, Clara Hoenen, Rasmus Hoenen and Tove Hoenen.
Lauretta was one of our greatest generation and will be missed
Services will be held on Wednesday July 2, 2014 at Woodlawn Funeral Home & Cemetery 1101 Antoine Dr & IH 10W Houston, Texas Visitation from 10am to11am followed by grave side service.
