Minnie Baum Obituary
Minnie Kerson Baum, Minnie Kerson Baum, 91, of Houston, Texas, passed away on August 1, 2014. She was a native Texan, born in Galveston, Texas, born to Benjamin and Zelda Kerson on February 1, 1923, and was the youngest of eight children. She is survived by her three children, Sonia Baum Kahanek and husband John, Harry Michael Baum and wife Rhonda, and Melvin Baum. She is also survived by her many wonderful grandchildren, cherished great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Minnie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jake Baum, her sisters, Clara Kerson Moskowitz, Ruth Kerson Sakowitz, Dorothy Kerson Goldberg, Sarah Kerson Baumstein, Ethel Kerson Wald, Rosalie Kerson Poscovsky and brother Joe Kerson.
Minnie always had a smile on her face and loved being with people. She worked for American National Life Insurance Company in Galveston, as a file clerk, in her younger years before moving to Houston. She was a caregiver to many children over the years and loved her work. She was a lifelong member of Congregation Beth Yeshurun, active in the Ladies Auxiliary of the Jewish War Veterans, Seven Acres Wolf Day Care and the Chai Club at the Jewish Community Center. She loved to play and call bingo. Her laugh and smile will long be missed. May thanks go to her numerous caregivers at Seven Acres Jewish Senior Care Services where resided for the last 6 ½ years. Graveside services will be held at Beth Yeshurun Cemetery on Post Oak Road at 10:00 am, Monday, August 4, 2014 . In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions my be made to Seven Acres Jewish Senior Care Services, 6200 N. Braeswood Blvd., Houston, Texas 77074 or the .
