Ruth Pulaski Berman Lack, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother died peacefully on Saturday, August 16, 2014. She had a long, wonderful life surrounded by the love and devotion of a large and extended family. She was truly an elegant, thoughtful and independent woman, whose family was the center of her life.|
Ruth was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on October 11, 1915, the second of four daughters born to Jennie and Joseph Freed. She attended the University of Oklahoma where she met, fell in love and later married Edward Pulaski. Eddie and Ruth had twenty wonderful years together until his death in 1956.
She remained a very active and devoted mother to their three sons.
She later met and married Leonard J. Berman, moving to Colorado. They returned to Houston several years later. After his death, Ruth reconnected with and married David Lack of Victoria, TX .and shared her final years with him. They had known each other in Kindergarten and High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was embraced by his large and loving family.
Ruth and Eddie were founding members of Congregation Emanu El and she was a longtime member of their Sisterhood. She was also a member of Congregation Beth Yeshurun..
She enjoyed her many years volunteering at TIRR and was active in the American Medical Center Auxilliary.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and sisters Sarah Smith and Betty Cohen and sister-in-law Rheba Bregman. Ruth is survived by her sister Evelyn Snyder, children, Joseph Pulaski and wife, Linda, Barry Pulaski and Rebecca Williams, Richard Pulaski and wife, Joy, Lesley Pulaski, Sandy and Ron Ginsburg, Jay Lack and wife, Barbara ,Melvin Lack and wife, Janey. Her grandchildren are Eric Pulaski and wife, Noylan, Adam Pulaski and wife, Elizabeth, David Pulaski, Brian Pulaski and wife, Katie of Los Angeles, Alan Pulaski and wife, Alana, Michael Pulaski, Holly and Todd Pulaski, Sarah and Craig Labovitz, Lara Lack, Josh and Jill Lack, Jared and Carolyn Lack, Andy Lack, Rebecca and Lawson Massey, Brandon Lack, David Lack, Jeffrey and Cinda Lack and Julie Lack. She had twelve great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends, whom she remembered with cards on every Birthday , Anniversary and other important occasions. She kept the greeting card companies in business.
We wish to extend our special thanks to her devoted care givers, Rosie Martinez, Ruby Branch and Berdeda Grant, whose kindness and dedication meant so much to her and our family.
Following a private family burial, a memorial service will follow on Tuesday , August 19th at 11:45 AM in the chapel at Congregation Emanu El , 1500 Sunset Blvd, Houston, Texas 77005, officiated by Rabbi Roy Walter.
