Our Lord and Savior called a special angel to heaven on Saturday, March 15, 2008. LAMENDA GAY HEWETT-LEVITTwas born in Houston, Texas March 9, 1961 to Martha and James Hewett III. She is preceded in death by her father, grandmother Ina Mae Warwick and grandmother and grandfather Lois and Harold Hewett Jr. She is survived by son Matthew Ronald Vogel, grandfather Preston D. Warwick; mother Martha Nesbett and stepfather Robert Nesbett of Conroe; brothers James Hewett IV and wife Sheryl of Conroe and Ronald Douglas Hewett and wife Esthela of Tomball; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and special friend Steve Scholer. Mendy, as she was called, will be greatly missed by her many friends and relatives. She touched the heart and soul of everyone she met. She had a heart and smile as big as Texas and was a devoted and loving daughter, sister, mother, aunt and relative. At Mendy's request, she was a Life Gift donor. Mendy graduated from Cy Fair High School and has worked many years at PBS&J. She loved sports and was the pitcher and most outstanding player throughout her junior and high school years. She continued her love of softball and played on two teams every season. Mendy coached the basketball teams that her son played on as well. She loved life and loved to live it to the fullest. Mendy loved animals and came to the rescue of many dogs and cats always finding good homes for all of them as well as keeping many for herself. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at 2:00 pm at Woodlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, March 25, 2008 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Burial will be at Woodlawn Garden of Memories. Pallbearers will be Walter Eeds, Peter Hewett, Steve Scholer, Ronald Hewett, James Hewett IV and David Stewart. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Matthew Ronald Vogel to the savings account at any Wachovia Bank.
