SAMUEL BERNARD MAGIDS, born April 16, 1938, died January 7, 2009. Sammy is survived by his wife of 49 years, Judy; his children: Fonda and Andy Weiss, Maury and Lisa Magids, Fredell and Doug Schnee; his grandchildren: Philip Schnee, Drew Schnee, Chava Weiss, Sarah Weiss, Will Magids, Brooke Magids, Marin Magids; his brother and sister in law, Jack and Jan Magids; his sister in law Reba Magids; his nieces and nephews: Marc and Dianne Magids, Shelly and Steve Brodie, Ashley and Jeremy Gaines, Scott and Alexis Magids; his cousins, great nieces and nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Fannie and Charles Magids and his brother, Bobby Magids. Sammy, a life long Houstonian, was a practicing attorney for 45 years. He was a member of Congregation Beth Yeshurun and the Houston, the Texas, and the American Bar Associations. He leaves behind so many good friends from his times at Longfellow Elementary, Johnston Jr. High, San Jacinto High School, Cyrus Adler AZA (where he served as Aleph Godol), Tulane University, Alpha Epsilon Pi Fraternity (where he served as Master), Bates College of Law at the University of Houston, Houston Title Company, Magids and White Law Firm, and finally as a solo Practitioner of law; as well as his long standing bridgegroup and his golf and skiing groups. The family feels Sammy would have especially appreciated contributions to: Congregation Beth Yeshurun, Rabbi Segals Discretionary Fund, 4525 Beechnut, Houston, Tx 77096 and the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center - Dr. Victor Levin Fund for Brain Cancer Research, P.O. Box 4486, Houston, Tx 77210-4486. His presence will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. Graveside Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, January 9, 2009, Beth Yeshurun Cemetery No. Post Oak and Old Katy Rd.
