Jacob Eige Obituary

JACOB J. EIGE Jake went home to be with the Lord and his wife of 62 years Virginia on January 22, 2009 by putting out on the 18th green of his life as he put it. An avid golfer he is survived by his two sons and their wives, J. & Doris of Raleigh NC and Ken and Sheri of Houston, 4 Grandchildren, Jasen, Benjamin, Erica and Ginni plus 5 Great Grandchildren, McKinzie, Katlyn, Riley, Ridge and Resse. He graduated from Westminster College where he was a Phi Delta Theta and Captain of the Golf Team. He returned to the family hometown of Marshalltown, IA, married, and began a family and career. In 1947 he and his family moved to Houston where he was a sales engineer for Puffer-Sweiven Co. for 30 years. He was a Club Golf Champion of Sharpstown Country Club in 1959 and had two holes in one on his life time score card and also a member of Quail Valley Country Club. He will be remembered as a Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Papa, and friend especially for his ability to make and be a friend so easily and stay so faithful. In lieu of flowers the family asks that a contribution in Jake Eige's name be made to the Houston Golf Association Junior Golfers program. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 27th from 5-8 p.m. with a graveside service on Wednesday, January 28th at 3:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway with the Rev. Jacob Eige III officiating.
