MARILYN MORGAN, RN1947-2010Marilyn C. Morgan died peacefully on April 25, 2010, surrounded at her bedside by family and friends who loved her dearly.Marilyn was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Chelnik, of Gainesville, Virginia, and for 35 years was the beloved wife of Douglas W. Morgan, and lived in Kingwood, Texas. She leaves her parents, a sister, Beth Glaser and brother-in-law, Ron Glaser of Haymarket, Virginia, daughter Sarah Morgan Redmond and son-in-law Ron Redmond, daughter Rebecca Louise Griffin, son-in-law Eric Griffin and grandson Joshua Griffin, 2, and mother-in-law Emogene Walker Morgan, of Boynton Beach, Florida, sister-in-law Victoria Morgan, and her husband Tom Pearce of Jupiter, Florida, and numerous nieces and nephews.Marilyn was born July 6, 1947 in Newark, New Jersey, and from the earliest age wanted to be a nurse. She graduated from East Orange General Hospital School of Nursing in East Orange, NJ, in 1968.Marilyn met her husband Douglas in 1974, while she was working as a labor and delivery nurse at Georgetown University Hospital, Washington, DC. She joined Northeast Medical Center Hospital in 1983, when the family moved to Humble, and continued working at Memorial Hermann Hospital Northeast until May, 2009.Her family is joined in mourning her passing by dozens of friends, family members and co-workers.Visitation is Wednesday, April 28th 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Rosewood Chapel, Rankin Road, Humble, Texas, with a funeral service and burial Thursday, April 29th, at 2:30 p.m. at Rosewood Chapel and adjoining cemetery.Her family expresses its gratitude to all the doctors, nurses, and administrators at MD Anderson Cancer Center and her many devoted friends who took such good care of Marilyn during her year-long battle with cancer. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her name to The American Lung Association or to Humble Area Assistance Ministries.
