Wallace J. (Wally) Sims, 54, died unexpectedly at his home on the morning of March 27th , 2011. Wally resided in Brawley, CA for nearly 50 years before moving to Houston, TX.
Wally is survived by; his wife Melinda (Mindy) Sims, brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Lisa Sims, brother and sister-in-law, Brian and Jane Sims, 4 sons and 2 daughters, chronologically, Brad Sims of Sacramento, CA, Daniel Sims of Houston, TX, Michael Sims of Las Vegas, NV, Heather Hickingbottom of Brawley, CA, Andrew Sims of Houston, TX, and Emily Sims of Houston, TX and their respective spouses, also several nieces, and several grandchildren.
Wally was known as an extremely intelligent, humorous and loving gentleman who took great pride and joy out of helping others, teaching his children in all areas, and never steered away from the spotlight. He worked hard and played even harder in the Imperial Valley of California for most of his life, where he spent endless nights with family and friends exploring all that the valley had to offer. He is a beloved son, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, husband and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who came to know him.
A memorial visitation will be held at 2:00 PM, and a service at 3:00 PM on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 16535 Kleinwood Drive, in Spring, Texas, 77379. In lieu of customary remembrances, the Sims' family invites you to contribute to the Texas Paralyzed Veterans Association or Paralyzed Veterans of America, or a charity of your choice in Wally's name.
A memorial will also be held in Brawley, California at a later date.
