FLOYD
MRS. Willie Dean Floyd was born on May 28, 1934 in Marianna, Arkansas to Silas and Sweet Willie Reed. She was educated in the Marianna Public School District and graduated from Robert R. Moton High School in 1954. She received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from Philander Smith College in Little Rock, Arkansas and a Masters Degree in Social Science from Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas.
Willie Dean lived a life of excellence and service to youth. She worked for the Board of Education of the United Methodist Church, served as Teenage Program Director and then Executive Director for the Blue Triangle Branch of the YWCA and retired as the Executive Director for the YWCA of Houston in 1996.
On Monday, April 25, 2011, Willie Dean entered into eternal rest. She was preceded in death by her parents, Silas and Sweet Willie Reed and her husband of forty-one years, William Floyd, Jr. She is survived by two brothers, three sisters, two god children and a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The wake and funeral service will be held on Monday, May 2, 2011 at Trinity United Methodist Church located at 2600 Holman Street. The Wake Service will be held from 8:30 a.m. - 10:45 a.m. and the Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. The Interment will be at the Houston National Cemetery. Donations in memory of Willie Dean Floyd may be made in her name to the . Dr. Robert McGee, officiating.
