Dorothy STAKEMILLER FEAGIN passed away peacefully on May 8, 2011. Dorothy Feagin was a native Houstonian, born June 18, 1922. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Hill Feagin, D.D.S., son, Philip R. Feagin, mother Lealia L. Stakemiller, stepfather James R. Stakemiller and brothers, Charles H. and Willard Wittmer.
Dorothy attended Lamar Sr High School and after graduating from the University of Houston she married her husband of 61 years, James Hill Feagin, D.D.S. Dorothy began her career teaching elementary school then assisted Hill in his busy dental practice while raising four children and serving as the President of the Houston Women's Dental Auxiliary. Dorothy and Hill became active in Senior Olympic sports, spending most of their time training for swimming, biking and track and field events. Dorothy was awarded more than 100 gold, silver and bronze medals in Senior Olympic competitions.
Dorothy and Hill were members of St. Luke's Methodist Church and enjoyed spending time at their beach house in Galveston as well as gardening, and astronomy.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Susannah Feagin, D.D.S. and her husband Blake Miller, son, James H. Feagin Jr. and his wife Teresa Feagin, son, Patric O. Feagin and his wife, Norma L. Feagin, as well as grandchildren, Katherine Greer Feagin, Elizabeth Whitney Feagin Robel, Jamie Tyler Feagin, Cotton Nathaniel Miller, Kathryn Miller Mashburn and great-granddaughter, Skye Parrish Mashburn.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 5:30 to 7:30pm on 11, May 2011 at the Bradshaw-Carter Funeral Home. Services in Dorothy's memory will be held at St Lukes Methodist Church 3471 Westheimer Rd, Houston, Tx 77028 on 12, May 2011 at 11:00 with reception to follow.
