Ruth Lacy Obituary

Ruth Nelson Lacy was born August 21, 1914 in Chambers, Nebraska and passed away Friday, May 20, 2011 in Houston, Texas at the age of 96.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Melvin F. Lacy, who passed away in April 2002 and her son Nelson F. Lacy who passed away in April 2003.
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Sonja Lacy Layton, her daughter-in-law, Maria Granja Lacy, her granddaughters, Tonja Layton Brown and Alexandra Lacy, her grandson, Brad Lacy and great grandsons, Connor, Holden and Evan Brown.
During her long life, Ruth lived and traveled to many parts of the world and enjoyed her bridge games well into her 90's.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to lifelong friends, Bonnie Colhour and Linda Colhour Mauterstock for the love, patience, dedication and support have constantly provided over the years.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on May, 26th at Memorial Drive United Methodist Church, 12955 Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77079.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at 2242 West Holcombe Blvd, Houston, Texas 77030 or the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation at 383 Main Avenue, 5th floor, Norwalk, Connecticut 06851.

Ms Ruth was a rare gem - always sweet, smart and loving until her final months. It was my privilege to know her and to "break bread" with her in the past year as she did her best to keep pace with the rest of the girls. Rest in peace, dear lady. We all loved you lots.
