James David Sexton, (62), of Houston, TX died Thursday night, June 9, 2011 at Hermann Memorial Hospital @ Memorial City. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be at Houston National Cemetery.
James was born April 25, 1949 in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; to Henry and Bessie (Graber) Sexton the second of four children. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War. Following his discharge, he attended the University of Iowa and graduated with a degree in business administration. James spent his professional career in the oil & gas industry, were he was a co-founder of Gyrodata. He had just recently retired. Raised on a midwest farm and taught the value of hard work, James often stated he cut his teeth on the steering wheel of his dad's tractor. He enjoyed inducing laughter among friends and family and delighted in teasing and story-telling. He happily fished and hunted for recreation and loved spending time with his daughter.
James is survived by the joy of his life, daughter Rachel of Houston, TX; two sisters, Linda (Dr. Jon) Gibson of Cumming, IA, Annie (Bob) Kidd of San Marcos, TX; sister-in-law Melody Sexton of Carmi, IL; four nieces and one nephew. James was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph M. Sexton and his parents.
