Radinsky
Leon Gerson Radinsky Jr., passed away peacefully July 19, 2011 in Paris, France. He was born October 17, 1944 in Houston to Leon and Jean Lott Radinsky, and was the younger brother of Sanford Hilton Radinsky. Leon's parents and brother all preceded him in death. He was a proud graduate of San Jacinto High School, where he served as student body president. Leon earned a BA in History from Southern Methodist University in 1967. He received his law degree from Columbia University in 1973 and practiced law in Houston. In 1984 he became president of the Holiday Finance Corporation, a company he established along with his brother Sanford in 1966. He led Holiday Finance with vision, success and compassion for its employees and customers until the day he passed. He had a passion for the arts. Whether it was paintings, cinema, theater or literature, Leon absorbed as much as he could and loved talking about it all with his friends and family. He also loved to travel, having visited countries in Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas. During his travels he visited Pinczów, Poland, his father's birthplace. There he discovered a 400 year old synagogue in shambles, destroyed by the Nazis. Leon generously contributed to the synagogue's restoration and it now stands as a museum of Jewish history and a testament to Leon's generosity. Leon is survived by his loving wife Sharilyn Jackson Radinsky and his two adoring children, his daughter Tiffany and son Atticus. He is also survived by Atticus's wife Tara and Leon's grandchildren, Theresa Jean and Levi Gerard. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday July 26, 2011 at 11 am at Emanu El Memorial Park, 8341 Bissonnet, in Houston where will be buried next to his parents and brother. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Leon's memory to Congregation Emanu El in Houston, the restoration of the Pinczów Synagogue, or a charity of your choice.
