Mary Murphree Obituary
Our lovely and beautiful Mary has gone from us, passing this life much too early for all those who cherished and adored her so much. There are so many. Every life she touched was brightened. The center of a crowd, the most beautiful in any room, she inspired a genuine closeness and affection, and captivated all with a magical quality that was truly inexplicable.

The disease that took her from us was pancreatic cancer. Only recently diagnosed, it moved at savage speed to complete its deadly, but merciful task. She was taken from us on the 21st of July 2011, ending a rich and exciting life that began in Stevens Point, Wisconsin on December 31st, some year in the past, but not one she would ever reveal.

Mary clung desperately to the life she loved, but also faced death as she did life, with grace, dignity, and the charm and wonder of a little girl.

Mary leaves behind Terry; Ticky "Ellis," and Tinkerbell; and countless broken hearts.

She also leaves her brother, Hans and sister, Ginger. She loved her Vetter family, and took such pride in being Mary Vetter from Stevens Point, Wisconsin. Holding the memories and connection to her family were always among the sweetest and most important parts of her life.

A memorial service is to be conducted at seven o'clock in the evening on Saturday, the 30th of July, at the Chapel of St. Basil, located at the intersection of West Alabama Street and Yoakum Boulevard, on the campus of St. Thomas University in Houston. Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception at a venue to be announced at the service.

Mary loved animals. She gave generously to all animal charities, but was most dedicated to Citizens for Animal Protection. For any who are moved to act in memory of Mary, contributions can be made to St. Angela Merici Catholic Church, PMB 99, 6140 Hwy. 6, Missouri City, TX, 77459; The Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist, 1210 Colquitt St., Houston, TX, 77006; or to Citizens for Animal Protection, 17555 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX, 77094.
