Henry - O'Neill
Jennifer Henry O' Neill, age 36, died peacefully on July 27, 2011, in Colorado. Tragically diagnosed at age 33 with an inoperable brain stem tumor, she was expected to live only briefly; but with incredible determination, excellent medical care and the power of prayer, Jennifer survived almost 3 years. She inspired others in countless ways. The love of her family surrounded her throughout her illness. To us, Jennifer was truly a hero.
Born in Houston on November 12, 1974, she was a graduate of The Kinkaid School (1993) and The University of Texas at Austin, School of Journalism (1998). She completed her professional life as Director of Advising for the School of Education at The University of Colorado. While ill, Jennifer volunteered in the MD Anderson Brain and Spine Center. She loved the outdoors, was an avid reader, a gourmet cook, and always had a great sense of humor.
She is survived by her mother, Camille Knight Silver and stepfather Gene Silver; father Michael Henry; sister and brother-in-law Carolyn and Mark Abernathy, nephews Matthew and Robert Abernathy; stepsister Terri Morgan and husband The Rev. Ralph Morgan; stepbrother Spike Silver; former husband Tim O'Neill of Colorado; Aunt and Uncle Susan and Richard Cruse of Houston; Aunts Cathy Odette of Florida and Susan Henry Neder of Colorado; Great Aunt Bette Shumake of Houston; Uncle Bob Henry of Michigan; "sister cousins" Dr. Elizabeth Cruse, husband Eric ten Wolde, children Nicholas, Ethan, and Annelise, and Meredith Cruse of California; cousins Will and Stephanie Cruse and daughter Vivian of New Jersey, Robert and Erica Albritton, Will and Roques Ann Albritton of Ft. Worth, Emily Neder Linck of Arizona, Will and Libby Neder of Colorado, Cindy and Ed Highfield of New York, and many Henry and Holdsworth cousins.
The family expresses our sincere gratitude to the exceptional, caring physicians and staffs of Boulder Community Hospital, Mapleton Rehabilitation Center, Rocky Mountain Cancer Center, MD Anderson Brain and Spine Center, The Strattford at Flatirons Assisted Living Facility, Broomfield, Colorado, and the Colorado Frontrange Hospice.
A Memorial Service will be held at St. Martin's Episcopal Church, 2:00 p.m., Monday, August 8, 2011. The Rev. John R. Bentley, Jr. will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Boulder Community Hospital Foundation Center for Integrative Care, 1100 Balsam Ave., Boulder, CO 80301; The MD Anderson Ann C.
