Charles Marquez Obituary
Charles Richard "Rick" Marquez , a loving father, son and brother, passed away on August 14th at the age of 58. He was born to Jimmy and Rosemarie Marquez on March 14, 1953 in Austin, Texas. The family moved to Houston in 1956, where Rick attended Memorial Elementary School, George Washington Middle School, and graduated from Lamar High School in 1971. Rick followed his father's footsteps and worked within the family's painting business for a number of years. He later went on to work for the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, Houston Branch for 18 years where he developed many lifelong friendships. Everyone who knew Rick would say he could light up a room with his laughter and smile. He was an avid fisherman and loved to hunt and cook. Rick is preceded in death by his younger brother Steve Marquez. He is survived by his parents, Jimmy and Rose, sister Patricia Martinez, daughter Vanessa Lynn Cook and husband Dennis, sons Charles Richard "Ricky" Jr., and Philip Anthony and 7 grandchildren, Andrew, Alison, Phoenix, Dexter, Emily, Lillian, and Nathen. The family would like to give a special thanks to the team of doctors and nursing staff at Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center for the exceptional care bestowed upon Rick. Memorial services will be held at 11 am on Friday, August 19th in the chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home, with a reception following at St. Theresa Catholic Church at 6622 Haskell St.
