Mary Matteson Obituary
Mary (Pesick) Matteson, On August 12, 2011, God called Mary home at the age of 84 years. Born in Struthers, Ohio on July 2, 1927, she was the youngest child of Steve and Gertrude (Jacobs) Pesick. Mary graduated from Poland Seminary High School in 1945. On October 12, 1946, she married David L. Matteson. They made their home in Boardman, Ohio, and raised their daughter, Mary Beth. In 1971, they began their life in Texas. Mary loved gardening, playing cards and bowling. She was her daughter's biggest cheerleader and she adored her granddaughters and her great-grandchildren. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband of 65 years, David; her daughter, Dr. Mary Beth Gaertner and son-in-law Dean; her granddaughters, Lori Bray and Lindsay Neidigk, their spouses Jason Bray and Matthew Neidigk, and great-grandchildren Logan and Kylie Bray and Jackson and Ryan Neidigk. In addition to her immediate family, survivors include her sisters-in-law Peggy Pesick, Genevieve DeVeny, Mary Lou Millard, Ruth Schmader and her husband Richard, brothers-in-law Robert Matteson and his wife Janet, Martin Matteson and his wife Carol and numerous nieces and nephews all whom she loved dearly. Mary was predeceased by her parents and two brothers, Tony and Alec Pesick, two sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law. A memorial service will be held at Salem Lutheran Church in Tomball, Texas on Thursday, September 15, 2011 at 4 PM. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be given to Salem Lutheran School, 22601 Lutheran Church Road, Tomball, Texas, 77377
